20th ANNUAL GREEN RIVER TRAIL RIDE

 

April 4th,5th, and 6th 2008

 

DAY ONE, APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES

DAY TWO, APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES

 

Come and enjoy the beautiful San Rafael Swell area.

Ride through the beautiful desert, around canyon rims, and through the bottom of

the canyons, reliving the lives of the cowboys and prospectors of yesterday.

It’s a wonderful family trail ride, complete with chuck wagon dinner and breakfast.

March 27th, 2008                              Registration deadline. 

                                                            The ride is limited Early registration is required. The first 125 riders only.

POSTMARK MUST BE March 27, 2008 OR EARLIER.

April 4, 2008            

5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p. m.                      In person registration at the CAMPSITE. And Please bring your

                                                            CONFIRMATION LETTER,  with the Campsite directions enclosed.

April 5, 2008                                    

6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.                      Assemble Riders          

           

8:30 a.m.                                            Ride to begin. Please follow and listen to the ride leaders. There is always someone from Green River bringing up the trail end, please DO NOT STRAY behind these people.

 

LUNCH 12: 00± ???                       When Trail Leaders stop and say Lunch Time.

BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH!

 

APPROX. 5:30 P.M.                        Arrival back at campsite. Dinner, bring your own feed for your animals.

                                                            Water will be available for horses.

                                                            (Jon Judd and Family, same as last year will prepare Meal.)

                                                      

April 6, 2008                        

7:00 a.m.                                           Optional Breakfast and saddle your horse or mule.

 

9:00 a.m.                                            Trail ride begins.

 

APPROX. 12:00± NOON                Lunch. BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH!

 

Early ?? P.M. After Noon             Trail ride ends back at campsite. Water will be available for horses.

 

CAMPSITE

 

Camp will be located at the top of Lost Spring’s.

 

Green River is at mile post 160 on I-70.  Travel West on I-70 for 11 miles to exit 149 (Highway 24 to Hanksville).  On Highway 24 travel for 18 ˝ miles (mile post 141 ˝) turn right at the first road. You will be able to see camp from the road.  Camp will be located at the top of Lost Spring’s Canyon before dropping down into the canyon.

SUGGESTION:

 

1-     Horses should be shod!!!

2-     Horses should be in good condition

3-     Bring a camera

4-          Two lunches and water or drinks to be carried by rider,

      Remember what you pack in you pack out!!!!

5-     Water to drink and wash with at camp

6-     Appropriate clothing (rain coats, long pants, jackets etc.)

7-           You are responsible for cleaning your campsite.

       

REMEMBER THIS IS PUBLIC LANDS.

Garbage trailer and cans will be Available.

 

HAY WILL NOT BE FURNISHED

The rider is required to provide the necessary feed to sustain the livestock participating, and insure only weed free feed is provided. Riding animals must be fed weed-free feed for 48 hours in advance and for the duration of the trip on public lands. Whole grains may not be used.  Animals shall be picketed, or otherwise contained. No grazing is allowed.

NO OAT HAY

 

The camping area and trail must be kept free of trash, including cigarette butts, orange peels, egg shells, pop cans, etc... All trash will be hauled off to an approved disposal facility. Nothing shall be buried.

Horse manure must be broken up and scattered before leaving the area.

Excess hay must be collected and hauled off.

 

ABSOLUTELY NO GUNS

 

ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ON RIDE

IF BROUGHT,  DOGS MUST BE TIED AND LEFT AT CAMP DURING RIDES.

 

FIRES AT CAMP

There will be no wood at camp area. If you would like to have a campfire you will have to bring your own wood. Fires need to be in a fire pan. There will be a bon fire in the existing fire pit at the main camp.

 

Fee for riders include

Veterinary services at camp

and water for horse.

You will need to bring your own drinking & wash water.
