CONTROL BOARD

1)CONNECT A WIRE FROM THE A+ FEED THROUGH IN THE P.A.SECTION TO THE A+ TRACE ON THE CONTROL BOARD (AT PROTECTION DIODE), ALSO CONNECT A+ TO ACCESSORY PINS 22,8 AND 3 AT CONTROL HEAD PLUG.

2)CONNECT A WIRE FROM THE A- FEED THROUGH IN THE P.A.SECTION TO THE A- TRACE ON THE CONTROL BOARD (AT PROTECTION DIODE), ALSO CONNECT A- TO PINS 17,11 AND 9 AT CONTROL HEAD.

3)CUT TRACE ON CONTROL BOARD GOING TO, PIN 7 AUDIO BOARD (RX AUDIO MUTE).

4)CONNECT A JUMPER FROM GROUND TO, PIN 4 CONTROL HEAD PLUG (F1 SELECT).

5)REMOVE LEADS FOR ANTENNA SWITCHING RELAY.

6)CONNECT A JUMPER FROM PIN 8 (AUDIO BOARD) TO PIN 23 CONTROL HEAD PLUG (THIS IS WHERE COS IS OBTAINED)IT IS LOW WHEN RX IS UNSQUELCHED AND GOES HIGH (9 VOLTS) WHEN SQUELCHED.

7)BUILD A CIRCUIT BOARD TO CONTROL VOLUME AND SQUELCH USING TWO 20K POTS AND TWO 4.7K RESISTORS, CONNECT ONE SET OF OUTSIDE LEGS TOGETHER, AND THEN CONNECT THE OTHER SET OF OUTSIDE LEGS TOGETHER, AFTER FIRST RUNNING EACH LEG SERIES THROUGH A 4.7K RESISTOR, THEN CONNECT WIRES, ONE FROM EACH END AND ONE FROM EACH WIPER.

CONNECT WIRE FROM SERIES RESISTOR SIDE OF POTS TO PIN 3 AUDIO BOARD (EMITTER FOLLOWER OUT TO SQUELCH).

CONNECT WIRE FROM OPPOSITE END OF POTS TO PIN 6 AUDIO BOARD (GROUND).

CONNECT WIRE FROM ONE WIPER TO PIN 5 (INTERCOM HIGH), THIS IS VOLUME.

CONNECT WIRE FROM OTHER WIPER TO PIN 9(INPUT FROM SQUELCH), THIS IS SQUELCH.

(MAKE ALL CONNECTIONS ON CONTROL BOARD).

8)MAKE CONNECTION FOR P.T.T. INPUT TO, PIN 16 CONTROL HEAD PLUG. (RED)

9)MAKE CONNECTION FOR C.O.R. OUTPUT TO, PIN 23 CONTROL HEAD PLUG. (BLUE)

10)MAKE CONNECTION FOR TX AUDIO INPUT TO, PIN 15 CONTROL HEAD PLUG. (WHITE)

11)MAKE CONNECTION FOR RX AUDIO OUTPUT TO, PIN 21 CONTROL HEAD PLUG. (ORANGE)

12)MAKE CONNECTION FOR DISCRIMINATOR AUDIO (PL.) TO, PIN 20 CONTROL HEAD PLUG. (GREEN)

13)MAKE CONNECTION FOR GROUND TO, PIN 1 CONTROL HEAD PLUG. (SHIELD)

14)FIND A GOOD LOCATION ON THE CASE TO INSTALL JACK,(SO239 OR BNC)FOR RECEIVE ANTENNA.

15)ORDER CRYSTALS FROM INTERNATIONAL CRYSTAL. USING SAME SPECIFICATIONS AS ORIGINALS.

AUDIO SQUELCH BOARD

1)REMOVE CR201.

2)JUMPER FROM PIN 1 TO 4.(9.6 VOLTS)

3)MAKE SURE ALL JUMPERS FOR CARRIER SQUELCH MODELS ARE IN PLACE, PER SERVICE MANUAL

YOU MUST GO THROUGH THE EXCITER, AND REPLACE 16 CAPACITORS, (USE DIPPED MICA).

POWER AMPLIFIER

THE TRANSISTORS IN THE EXISTING P.A.WILL NOT OPERATE IN THE 220 MHZ RANGE ANYWAY, SO COMPLETELY REMOVE THE P.A.BOARD. WHEN THE EXCITER IS TUNED UP, IT SHOULD HAVE ABOUT 250-400 mW OUTPUT, WHICH SHOULD BE PLENTY FOR LINE OF SITE LINKING PURPOSES, BUT IF MORE OUTPUT IS NEEDED WE HAVE FOUND THE TOSHIBA SAV-15 POWER OUTPUT MODULE TO WORK EXCELLENT, IT HAS AN OUTPUT OF ABOUT 35 WATTS WITH 300 mW DRIVE. THESE MODULES CAN BE ORDERED FROM RF PARTS IN SAN MARCOS, CA RECEIVER RF/IF BOARD



1)REPLACE THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS ON RECEIVER BOARD WITH LISTED VALUES. C108 27pf, C109 39pf, C113 2pf ,C116 2pf AND R107 12K CERAMIC CAPS WILL WORK FINE HERE.

2)REMOVE ALL 5 COILS FROM THE PRESELECTOR CASE, YOU WILL NEED A GOOD SIZED SOLDERING IRON OR PROPANE TORCH FOR THIS! BELIEVE ME.

IF THE PRESELECTOR IS IN THE 132-150.8 MHZ RANGE YOU NEED TO REMOVE 4 TURNS, AND IF IT IS IN THE 150.8-174 MHZ RANGE YOU NEED TO REMOVE 3 TURNS, REMEMBER TO TAKE THE WIRE FROM THE CENTER OF THE COIL, IF YOU REMOVE IT FROM TOP OR BOTTOM IT WILL NOT WORK!
