Mt. Ellen Repeater
This repeater site is located in Garfield County, Utah on Mt. Ellen. This repeater consists of a VHF repeater (ERP 100 w) with a UHF link repeater. Due to the remoteness of this site the repeater is on a timer to turn off the VHF transmitter and the UHF link repeater to slow down the power drain at this site. This means that this repeater will not hear what the system is transmitting unless the Mt. Ellen repeater is first keyed.
This repeater site is our most remote sites. Power is supplied by solar power with a bank of batteries only. At over 11,000 feet trips to this site are few do to the lateness of snow melt.
The antenna is located at the top of the now shortened tower which became shortened when the top half of the tower failed and tipped over most likely due to ice loading.
This repeater covers areas around the Henry Mountain range is Southeastern Utah including Capitol Reef National Park, Hanksville, Hite, Boulder, Escalante, and Bullfrog.
